Keeping the animals healthy

Today I was catching up on old magazines, newsletters, newspapers and other stuff, and I came across this little article in the "National Humane Review".
It's about testing cosmetics, etc. on animals.  I thought if it said "cruelty free", "not tested on animals", or "animal friendly", it meant that the product was OK in my scheme of things.
Not so.  That may only refer to the FINAL product, NOT its ingredients.  Or, get this, the company itself may not test its product on animals, but may pay an outside source to evaluate it.
OK, so now what?  Well, aside from acting to get the animal testing stopped, as they are doing in Great Britain, we can look for the leaping bunny logo on products.  This is from the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC) who are trying to influence the cosmetics industry to end the animal cruelty.  If the product has the leaping bunny, it means that the company has signed the pledge not to test on animals.
For a comprehensive list of CCIC approved companies, visit www.leapingbunny.org

OK, now I'll climb down off of my soapbox and get some exercise.
