Wellness Week Ten: The Law of Human Dignity

"When you give me respect and I give you respect, we will both be better for it."

So far, many of these wellness laws have referred to our own personal, individual wellness. We have been learning ways to treat ourselves differently with the goal of leading healthier lives. Law Ten, the Law of Human Dignity, includes not only our individual selves, but the people around us too.

"The active daily awareness of the dignity of the person, the constant awareness of the worth and value of every person regardless of race, color, age, gender, or economic situation, this awareness of high value and supreme worth is fundamental to individual and social wellness."

In other words, love and respect know no bounds. When you let love and respect run rampant, wellness runs rampant too. Here on our blog, we are very supportive of each other. We want to see each other happy and healthy..lifted up. Sure, we could find a bit of wellness on our own. But, by doing it together and celebrating each other's dignity, the wellness we experience is multiplied infinitely.

"The Law says we value individuals: we want to know who they are, what they can do, where their hearts are; we want to know about their life journeys, their hopes and dreams, and the compassion that lies in their souls....The Law of Human Dignity carries with it a mandate: to stop our pettiness and quit putting each other in little boxes that diminish the dignity and potential of all."

I know we do the above as Go-Getters, here on this blog. Let's practice this in our daily lives too. Again, love and respect know no bounds, so let's not only respect certain people in certain little boxes. Color outside the lines. Spread it out everywhere. Perhaps at first, we'll need to practice it deliberately. But, before long, it will be a way of life and we will all thrive because of it. Your wellness is my wellness is everyone's wellness.

Happy Go-Getting!
Love,
Casey

"Esteem them. Praise them. Treat them with Human Dignity!"
